World 4-2 - When the Going Gets Tough
The World 4-2 When the Going is the second chapter in World 4 - Lava Pit. This walkthrough will provide tips for navigating and completing battles under par, as well as providing information on Collectibles and Treasure Chests found along the way.

Battle 1 - Defeat All
- Par: 4 Turns
- Enemies: Lava Smasher x3, Lava Hoppper x2, Lava Ziggy x2
- Recommended Characters: Rabbid Mario, Luigi
Start off using Mario's M-Power. Then, Dash the closest Smasher first with Mario, before taking cover down to the right. Then, Dash the Smasher again with Rabbid Mario before taking cover just to the right. Shoot the Smasher with Rabbid Mario to finish it off. Then, use Luigi's steely stare. If this ability fully upgraded with 3 shots, this fight will be a cinch. Now, shoot the two Smashers below with both Mario and Luigi to draw them out before finishing them off. Now, the Hoppers and Ziggys will close in. During your next turn, go down below and be sure to dash any that are close enough, especially with Rabbid Mario. Be sure to use Mario's Hero Sight this next turn. After that, keep pushing up to utilize dashes, negating the Hoppper's shields before dishing out the weapon attacks.
Lava Pit
Continue on the path to reach several colored blocks. Hit the yellow switch. Then, pick up the statue. Now, hit the yellow switch again before placing the statue on the green pedestal. This opens the cannon on the side.
Use this cannon to access a mushroom and a Collectible Chest containing the Interplanetary Outhouse Tarot. Continue on the main path to reach the next battle.

Battle 2 - Reach Area
- Par: 5
- Enemies: Lava Ziggy x8, Lava Valkyrie x1
- Recommended Characters: Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Peach
Before going into this fight, be sure to fully upgrade each characters movement capacity and team jump distance. Also, take note that the Volcanic Pyroclasts are back. Don't end a turn on any of the ashy tiles.
First, have Rabbid Mario dash the enemy ahead before taking cover behind the ice block below. Then, use his Boomshot to deal massive damage on the two Ziggys below. Then use Rabbid Peach and Mario to clean up the two up top while making their way down. As you finish the turn, make sure to find cover outside of the ashy areas.
Remember that your only goal is to reach the end. Use Rabbid Peach to send the other two over with Team Jumps before crossing through the pipe herself. Use Rabbid Peach's shield and Mario's Hero Sight to prepare for the reinforcements. Continue pushing forward, having your weakest character get behind the indestructible cover. Continue placing Mario and Rabbid Mario along the close side of the battlefield while Rabbid Peach distracts.
Lava Pit
Continue forward to eventually find a Bug Zone Cannon on the left. Take this to find a breakable block puzzle. The trick is to break the lone blocks to prevent additional time breaking. Start by breaking the single block on the left as you make your way around to collect all the blue coins. Complete this puzzle to acquire a Weapon Chest with the Mushroom Marauder Boomshot for Rabbid Mario inside.

Now, back in the overworld, break all the wooden blocks lining this area. Then, step through the red coin ring on the right to follow the path and summon a Weapon Chest containing The King Grenaduck for Peach.
Next, look to the right to find a green arrow leading down. Push the block here down onto the green platform below. Then, drop down to the left and press the green switch. Use the cannon to go back up. Now, drop down onto the green platform again and push the block off to the right. Drop down with it. Then, press the green switch before pushing the block off once more. Now, make sure the yellow platform is extended below before pushing the block off the side. Hop down yourself to continue pushing the block all the way down onto the red switch.
Once the red platform appears, follow the path ahead through a warp pipe to eventually reach a Collectible Chest containing The Mine artwork. Now follow the main path to reach the next chapter.
